What are the advantages of using the CPGateway server versus using modem dial-up for credit cards?
Modem Dial-up typically takes between 15 - 45 seconds to get an authorization. This varies depending upon the season and how busy the credit card processors phone lines are. Because of the technologies involved, the communication is often unstable, requiring frequent re-dials with multiple authorization attempts on the same transactions. This creates slowness at the registers, long lines, irritated customers, and lost sales.
CPGateway advertises an under (4) four second authorization times. Since this service uses an Internet connection directly to the credit card processor, the time involved is minimal, and the connection is more stable. This creates faster transactions at the registers, shorter lines, happy customers, and increased sales volume over the same time period as the modem method.
Every customer using CPGateway has indicated to me that they would not go back to Modem Dial-up even if you paid them to do it.
In one example involving a long term customer, a stopwatch was used to time the actual time that it took to get an authorization for each transaction at a register. Over a (3) three hour period, the reported AVERAGE time for all of these transactions was 1.2 seconds.
After a few days of using CPGateway, the staff was now complaining that it was taking longer to print the register receipts than it was to get the authorizations... Lines were shorter, customers were happy, their sales volume was up, and staff had more time to do other tasks. This was the opposite of what their issues were before...
