It's hard to believe the 1st month of 2009 has come to an end. We are all hoping for better things this year and better weather here in the Seattle area.
I have just returned from our yearly Summit with Radiant Retail Division in Atlanta. One of the things it showed me was that we all have to be resourceful and creative in keeping profitable and getting new customers this year. This is true whether you are a Computer Service company like we are, or a Retailer like many of you are.
Two things that struck me for our retail customers were the use of Gift Cards to attract new customers and a Security System to track both employees and customers. If you are not using Gift Cards you are missing out on a great opportunity to get new people into your store and to generated new and additional revenue.
Since Gift Cards are built into your CounterPoint Systems, you just have the minimal cost of purchasing the cards. We have 2 different companies that we work with that can get your setup. It's a short and easy process.
Many of you might have thought about security cameras over the years. They can help with shrinkage from both customers and employees. Another nice benefit is that they can track productivity. A bonus is that they have come down in price.
A great new application I saw was tracking traffic that comes into the store against receipts. You can then compare it with sales to see the ratio of sales to customers who enter the store. A terrific way to see if your are missing sales.
