Shareware vs. Licensed

We suggest that you treat shareware and freeware products with more caution than commercial products. Your business systems are at greater risk with these types of products, even if they seem to be very desirable.

CCS Partners/Recommendations

A suite of Windows Administration Software for all Windows Maintenance tasks.  Features include: Registry Repair and Optimization,  Driver Analysis and Updates, Disk Analysis and Defrag, DLL and Services Threat Assessment, Cookie Management, Uninstall Management, and many other tasks.

The Norton System Works family of products are excellent tools for maintaining your desktops and notebooks.  The Windows desktop is controlled by the registry.  The registry system of hives and settings is very complex to the untrained person.  If it becomes corrupted, it is not practical to work on it directly.  The Norton Wind Doctor is capable of scanning and repairing the registry automatically.

The newest Symantec product 360 has the features of System Works plus additional security and backup tools.

We suggest a regular schedule of registry scans and backups be done to keep your desktops running and protected.

Pareto Logic RegCure is a good alternative to System Works Win Doctor.  It is focused on registry maintenance primarily.

UNIblue Registry Booster is a companion product for the Lavasoft Ad-aware Spyware software.  Lavasoft users may want to add this great tool.
